At first glance, it was easy to assume that Plymouth’s 1950 offering was little more than a restyled 1949. Closer examination revealed that although the two cars were definitely siblings, a host of changes had taken place, so much so that only the doors were bolt-for-bolt interchanges between the two years. Basic contours remained the same, with relocated bolt holes and altered cut outs marking the differences between the two model years.

Distinguishing the 1950 cars from the 1949s were plain bumpers and a simplified stainless steel three-bar grille. The fluted, three-rib bumpers had been attractive but were expensive to manufacture and nearly impossible to straighten when dented. The new design, with a slight roll at the bottom edge of the face plate, helped the 1950 models appear more massive. The top bar of the grille curved to follow the grille cavity down to the front gravel shield.

The Plymouth RoadRunner was built up as a mid-priced car and was placed between the Satellie and Belvedere model line up. It was built on the B-body platform. The RoadRunner was light and featured few amenities. This not only drove the price of the vehicle into territory that most could afford, but it gave an advantage over heavier vehicles. The front and back seats were both bench. There was no radio, no air conditioning, no cruise control, no trim, and very few color options. Most of the options available favored speed and acceleration.

The RoadRunner came equipped with a 383 cubic-inch V8 engine capable of producing 335 horsepower. A four-speed manual transmission was standard equipment. For about $715 dollars, a 426 Hemi could be added making it the fastest vehicle on the road.
The first series of the Barracuda was produced from 1964 through 1969, described by is A-body construction. From 1970 through 1974 the second series was produced using an E-body construction.

In 1964, Plymouth offered the Barracuda as an option of the Valiant model line, meaning it wore both the Valiant and Barracuda emblems. The base offering was a 225 cubic-inch six-cylinder engine that produced with 180 horsepower. An optional Commando 273 cubic-inch eight-cylinder engine was available with a four-barrel carburetor, high-compression heads and revised cams. The vehicle was outfitted with a live rear axle and semi-elliptic springs. Unfortunately, the Barracuda was introduced at the same time, separated by only two weeks, as the Ford Mustang. The Mustang proved to be the more popular car outselling the Valiant Barracuda by a ratio of 8 to 1.

In 1970 the Barracuda were restyled but shared similarities to the 1967 through 1969 models. The Barracuda was available in convertible and hardtop configuration; the fastback was no longer offered. Sales were strong in 1970 but declined in the years that followed.
For 1949 Plymouth offered two models, the Deluxe and Special Deluxe, with a batch of available bodystyles and shapes between the two of them. The very early part of the year, Plymouth marketed the P-15 Series following the prior years specifications.

The P-17 Deluxe Series comprised Plymouths first postwar car, the cars prior to this were basically just updated versions of the cars sold prior to the war. The P-17 rested on a shortened wheelbase that measured a mere 111 inches. The P-18 Series rode on a slightly larger base, measuring 118.5-inches. These P-17 vehicles were offered at a very reasonable price, available in three-two door configurations including a business coupe, Suburban and fastback sedan.
